Work
Twenty-plus years in industrial operations, process control engineering, and OT cybersecurity.
OT cybersecurity and ICS modernization
Building the security posture of a multi-plant continuous-process enterprise from the controls engineer’s side of the fence.
- Dragos deployment and OT network visibility
- Oversaw the Dragos rollout across multiple sites as the enterprise OT monitoring backbone, with integration into the plant incident-response workflow.
- Network segmentation across multi-plant environments
- Purdue-aligned segmentation with DMZs, jump hosts, and conduit-by-conduit firewall rules, coordinated against live production without scheduled outages.
- TightVNC vulnerability discovery and remediation
- Surfaced a remote-access credential exposure on the corporate network and drove the enterprise-wide remediation — inventory, hardening, and the policy change that kept the class of issue from recurring.
- DCS lifecycle strategy
- Long-range control-system roadmap across Siemens PCS 7, Foxboro, Honeywell MeasureX, and Allen-Bradley platforms — obsolescence, cybersecurity posture, and capital planning on the same page.
- BMS and SIS oversight
- Supervised and helped maintain burner-management and safety-instrumented systems against the cyber-physical risk profile.
Industrial AI and governance
Writing the policy and building the pipelines that let an industrial enterprise use modern AI without pretending the plant is a SaaS company.
- Enterprise AI policy
- Pushed to put the topic on the executive agenda and authored the resulting multi-phase governance framework, benchmarked against large industrial enterprises — acceptable use, data handling, model classes, and a roadmap for agentic readiness.
- RAG pipeline over 10,000+ industrial documents
- Built an OCR-normalized, chunked retrieval layer across a decade of plant documentation, including the legacy paper scans that lived outside every other system.
- Legacy DCS recovery with vision models
- Applied AI and vision models to read the actual control code in typewriter-written DCS manuals circa 1978 and transcribe it into I/O lists and control narratives — the logic made legible again for the engineers who had to live with it.
- Agentic workflows across IT and OT
- Designing, demonstrating, and proving agentic workflows that assist with real business processes in both IT and OT environments — hands-on, end-to-end, and benchmarked against the work they are meant to replace or augment.
Operations and engineering leadership
Twenty years across FMC, Tronox, Genesis Alkali, and WE Soda — continuous-process soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, sesquicarbonate, and sulfate operations.
- Roles across the arc
- Process engineer, production engineer, plant manager, and director of OT/IT — each role still informs how I read the next one.
- Major DCS conversions
- Led control-system conversions on units with thousands of I/O — zero safety incidents, post-cutover stability, and near-zero production loss.
- Continuous-process specialties
- Soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, sesquicarbonate, and sulfate — the processes, the crystallization chemistry, the energy systems, and the instrumentation that ties them together.
- Cross-functional plant leadership
- Operations, engineering, reliability, and controls — one org chart, one P&L, one definition of a good day.
